Wow! This confirms my fear of having work done on my home. My policy is to have at least 3 contractors come round before choosing. Then I figure out which one knows the technicalities of what they are doing and seems excited/interested in the details of my job. Before I call people out I also check Angie\’s List for recommendations. I find that good contractors usually have a median price for the job.I hope you have everything all fixed up soon Carole. Thank goodness you are all safe.

Thanks, Rita! We now have an attorney looking into his permitting and insurance, so someone is taking care of that aspect for us. It’s nice to have pulled together such a good team of people who are helping us with this.

For a job that would replace the sheathing on your roof, the contractor should have required a county or city permit to do the work. Check with the permitting office and complain to them too. I hate that you’re having all this trouble.

Carole this journal is amazing. The emotion is heartfelt and I can feel every anxious moment wondering what I would do given this news. Dealing with parents who are ill is one of the hardest parts of growing older as adults. Journaling and writing can be so healing and I wish that for you through this post…I only wish I had been closer and could have been with my dad as his illness worsened and took him. I regret not having or making that time.
